JD Sports takes CMA fine on the chin

Keen to point out that none of its current directors or senior management were involved in the matter of breaches in competition law concerning The Ranger Football Club, LBJ Sports Apparel and JD Sports Fashion, the board of JD Sports has made a provision of £2m in its financial statements for the 52 weeks 29 January 2022, to cover the expected fine and associated legal costs.

JD Sports also confirmed that it had fully co-operated with the CMA during its investigation, including taking swift steps to apply for leniency and agreeing to settle the investigation.
