Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q, saw sales slump 28 percent
in the first quarter to £2.6 billion, with declines in all three of its core
markets, the UK, Ireland and France. The company blamed bad weather and “weak
consumer confidence” for the results. Reflecting the weaker sales, Kingfisher
UK & Ireland reported retail profit of £50 million, compared with £74 million
this time last year.
