Kingfisher to sell off six B&Q stores

The Kingfisher board has opted to sell six stores to raise £125 million to help fund its turnaround plans. The company has already shed 65 stores and made large scale redundancies. In September it reported a 15 per cent fall in its half year profits, to £375 million. The retail group blames slowing home sales resulting in fewer consumers spending on home improvements as well as a drop in consumer confidence leading to a hesitation to spend significant sums.
