LK Bennett records fall in sales

LK Bennett has released its figures for the year to 31 July 2017. Sales had fallen to £77.4 million but on a like-for-like basis actually showed an increase of 3.7 per cent.  Online sales had risen to 33 per cent of total sales with its 130 stores contributing 61 per cent and wholesale responsible for the remaining 6 per cent.  The business reported an operating loss of £5.9 million for the year excluding exceptional costs of £28.7 million which resulted from writing off the debts of former group companies.

In September  Linda Bennett, original founder of the business, bought the 45 per cent of the equity she did not already own from Phoenix Equity Partners.

Chairman Patrick Woodall commented: “I am delighted to see Linda Bennett returning, both as owners of the business and playing a key part in creating product ranges that delight out customers. We are already seeing the benefit of her involvement in our improved product performance, and more generally across the group, as we continue to strengthen our management team.”
