Lloyds Pharmacy to shutter 190 stores

Lloyds Pharmacy has taken the decision to close 190 of its UK outlets due to increasing running costs and government funding cuts. It is believed that around 1000 jobs could be lost as the business works to balance its books.  There is a national shortage of qualified pharmacists and this, in addition to the new IT solution roll out in its branches has created difficulties  at local level in delivering the customer service levels expected, and with some branches forced to close for short periods due to the lack of available pharmacists.
