Mamas and Papas enjoys buoyant year

Mamas & Papas has posted revenues of £126 million for the year to March 2022 which is a third up on the prior year. Pre-tax profits also improved from £1.2 million to £6.8 million. The business has been engaged in a turnaround process and it says that its half year to September 2022 is showing a 17 per cent uplift.

CEO Mark Saunders said: “Whilst there are undoubtedly challenges from the continuing cost of living crisis and emerging economic downturn, the nursery products sector has always proven its resilience due to being far less discretionary than other non-food retail sectors.”

To extend its reach, Mamas & Papas has taken concessions in Next stores and is also working with Marks & Spencer.

Saunders added: “Combined with our momentum in the market and the loyalty of our customers, this is giving us confidence to continue investing in our growth strategy, including our strategic partnerships with Next and Marks & Spencer, as well as investing in our communities and colleagues through our ESG agenda.”
