Marks & Spencer has become the first UK retailer to create an app
for Samsung Smart TVs. The new app, developed in collaboration
with multichannel video agency Adjust Your Set, gives viewers
access to M&S content such as high street fashion trends,
lifestyle tips, food, fashion and technology news on their TVs
rather than computer screen.
Samsung UK’s marketing director for TV, Guy Kinnell says the
development of the M&S app “highlights the popularity of
Smart TV as the most immersive and interactive format for
consumers”. According to Samsung, “Samsung
Apps” is the first and biggest app store available for TVs,
with more 10 million apps already downloaded worldwide.
For Marks & Spencer, the launch provides “new ways to
engage and interact with our customers”, says Susan
Aubrey-Cound director for new channels at Marks & Spencer,
adding, “this app enables customers to discover more about
our products and innovations from the comfort of their living
rooms, whilst supporting our broader marketing
channels.”
M&S joins a growing list of services available on Samsung Smart
TVs including BBC iPlayer, Lovefilm Netflix, YouTube, Teletext
Holidays, Rightmove, Thomson Local, Facebook and Twitter.
