Mobile Fun adds a dozen more sites, says more localisation to come

British mobile accessories online retailer Mobile Fun has
completed its MF20 initiative to open 20 new international
websites by March 2013. The project was launched following the
unveiling of Mobile Fun’s US and Italian websites in 2012.

A dozen sites were launched in the first quarter of 2013, taking
the total number of countries served by localised websites to 27,
while Mobile Fun ships orders to more than 50 countries around
the world.

Headquartered in Birmingham, UK, the online retailer’s first
international website was launched in Germany in 2008 and is run
by a team in Hamburg. In 2010, Mobile Fun opened its French
website and Paris office. The company now also operates local
offices in Spain and the USA. While the UK is still the company’s
largest market, international websites already contribute more
than 36 percent of Mobile Fun’s total order volumes, a figure
expected to grow as the new websites provide a platform for
accelerated future growth.

More on the way

Already the company’s websites for Australia and the Nordic
countries-launched in late 2012-are exceeding early targets,
reveals Richard Moore, Mobile Fun’s head of international, who
adds that “our presence in emerging economies, such as
Brazil and China, offers us access to fast growing ecommerce
markets around the globe.”

Mobile Fun’s immediate plans include further localisation,
launching local marketing campaigns and international
recruitment. Moore has flown out to Australia in order to start
the process of recruiting an Australian team and establishing a
presence down-under.
