Monsoon Accessorize which operates 268 UK stores has asked landlords of these stores to consider cutting rents as it looks at ways to trim its overheads. The retailer has closed stores as leases have come up for renewals and say that without rent reductions it will have no choice other than to close more stores. Along with many other retailers, it has seen footfall erode and sales plummet.
The retailer recently placed its German business into administration.
