Montezuma’s sells to Paramount Retail Group

Sussex based premium chocolate business Montezuma’s has been sold to Paramount Retail Group which owns Bristows of Devon and other confectionery brands as well as a number of pet related brands. Montezuma’s products are stocked by the likes of John Lewis, Selfridges, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.

Ravi Sharma, executive director, Paramount commented: “The purchase of Montezuma’s will strengthen our confectionary division offering instant synergies with our existing brands and manufacturing facilities ‘Bristows of Devon’, giving a strong presence in the hard boiled, fudge, toffee, and now premier chocolate.”

Helen Pattison co-founder of Montezuma’s with Simon Pattinson, are re-joining the business under its new ownership. Helen Pattinson said: “We’re delighted to be part of the Paramount family and feel that this is such an exciting time for the business. We can’t wait to see what the future holds and are looking forward to sharing more delicious chocolate with you very soon.”
