Cost savings from operational efficiencies resulting from a
recent IT platform migration meant that 200 head-office jobs at
Littlewoods Shop Direct Group (LSDG) were axed last month. It has
since been announced that another 280 employees will lose their
jobs as part of the company’s ongoing transformation. It is
anticipated that 100 jobs will be lost at the head office in
Speke, 150 jobs at the Everyday Financial Solutions site in
Sunderland and 30 jobs at LSDG’s Optimum Contact Solutions
division at sites around the North West.
The news has angered trade unions Unite, Usdaw and the GMB, which
are concerned over the lack of consultation with their members
and have pledged to fight the decision.
