More store closures on the horizon in the UK & US

Hobbycraft has announced more store closures as economic pressures continue to impact consumer spending across the UK.

In a statement on www.hobbycraft.co.uk, the retailer said: “Following a strategic review of the business, we will be closing some of our stores. As a result, the stores listed below (Chichester, Crayford, Kings Lynn, Maidenhead, Stafford, Wigan) will close in September.”

Poundland has also confirmed that it will close 15 more stores later this month as per its restructuring plan, with more to follow in the Autumn. The retailer is expected to close around 100 stores, taking its store estate to c.650-750, down from 800.

Fat Face is set to close all 23 of its stores in the US and move to an online-only model, due to ongoing economic uncertainty and rising costs. The fashion brand will instead focus on further investment in its UK store estate and entry into new international markets.
