Speculators are expecting that Mothercare, which has already
been reported to have appeared on Tesco’s acquisition radar, is trying to
divest its 40 strong ELC retail chain following a period of trading
difficulties across its entire business. Mothercare acquired ELC in 2007 for a
reported £85 million.
