Beleagured Mothercare has confirmed that its board has rejected approaches from American competitor Destination Maternity which operates the Pea in the Pod chain. The Nasdaq quoted suitor operates 1900 stores and is understood to be keen to gain a foothold in Europe via the acquisition of an established business which can benefit from its sector experience. Meanwhile, Morrisons is understood to be close to agreeing terms with a buyer for its Kiddicare business.
