Interim Mothercare CEO Mark Newton-Jones who stepped into
replace Simon Calver, faces a difficult time even though reported sales for the
12 weeks to 29th March 2014 showed a slight improvement over the previous
quarter. Saving graces were multichannel which now accounts for 29 per cent of
sales and is growing largely as a result of rolling out click and collect
services, and international sales, generated largely via franchisees, which
remain strong.
