M&S has acquired an automated distribution centre in Lichfield for c.£67.5 million from ASOS. The acquisition of the 437,000 sq.ft site will create 600 jobs and support M&S as it looks to double its online fashion sales. The site will be operational in 2027. M&S is understood to be targeting a doubling of its online fashion and beauty sales and the new DC will enable it to better compete with the likes of Next.
It was also recently announced that River Island has launched on the Brands at M&S platform in a move which will provide M&S with an additional youthful fashion offer. M&S has been strategically growing the roster of third-party brand offering on its M&S.com site.
