N Brown Group reports sluggish half year

N Brown Group has announced its results for the half year to  August 27th. Revenues had crept up by 1 per cent during the period to £429.4 million but its adjusted pre-tax profit had fallen by 19.8 per cent to £31.6 million. The business had enjoyed an increase of 7.5 per cent in its online sales largely attributed to growth in mobile transactions.  CEO Angela Spindler commented, “Spring-summer was challenging for the entire retail sector, and we were not immune to this, but we demonstrated our flexibility as we improved revenue performance through the season whilst controlling our costs well.”  Adding “At this stage, we are comfortable with current market expectations for the full year.”
