N Brown has warned of redundancies which will affect over 120 staff members following its recent profit warning which came as a result of falling sales and a drop in the contribution ‘cushion’ from its usually buoyant financial services division. The business which had enjoyed robust past results from a strong portfolio of mature market brands has been working to move from catalogue and print based marketing to purely digital operations, having abandoned its earlier strategy of stores combined with digital. It is now understood to be focusing primarily on its Jacamo and SimplyBe brands. The business has, however, recently appointed Sarah Welsh as its retail CEO.
We have learned that it is primarily Manchester based head office staff who are in consultation over their future employment with the business.
