Rumours that Brazilian beauty group Natura & Co may have bitten off more than it can chew in recent years appear to have been correct as the business which has already clinched a sale of Aesop to L’Oreal, is now selling off The Body Shop. The Body Shop business has been valued at c.£405m, less than half of the £857m Natura had paid L’Oreal for the business in 2017.
Natura intends to focus on Avon and its own Natura brand going forward having made a statement that it recently authorised its management to explore strategic alternatives for The Body Shop following months of denial that it was seeking a buyer.
In a statement, about its position on The Body Shop, Natura said: “There can be no assurances that this process will result in any transaction. Natura does not intend to comment on or provide updates regarding this matter unless and until it determines that further disclosure is appropriate or required.”
