New Look makes redundancies

Following a lengthy consultation process with its staff New Look has made the jobs of 390 of its deputy store managers and sales managers redundant. This will enable the retailer to achieve a better balance between junior and senior store staffing levels as well as to recruit 250 new junior staff.

As has been widely reported, New Look has incurred a significant downturn in its profits which led to the departure of its chief executive. It is understood that, for the interim at least, Alistair McGeorge has returned to the business to support its return to more profitable performance.
