With many UK retailers still viewing China as a major opportunity, New Look is bucking the trend and planning to withdraw from the market where it has a chain of stores under its own operation and ownership. It has determined that its focus will be better placed on its UK activities and has already shuttered 20 of its Chinese stores, with 130 further stores to follow. It is also being suggested that the retailer will halt operations in France, Belgium and Poland in order to reduce losses.
