News roundup–Cotswold Company buys New Heights assets, cotton prices record high

The price of cotton has soared to a new record, reports the Telegraph, after a cold snap in China threatened to damage the crop.

The Cotswold Company has bought the brand, database and exclusive supply rights of New Heights furniture. New Heights had entered administration in 2008; its assets were subsequently acquired by one of its creditors, who sold them on to The Cotswold Company approximately six weeks ago. The Cotswold Company has been in touch with New Heights’ previous customers informing them of the latest development and reintroducing them to the products.

John Lewis
is relaunching its website to enable it to double its online business in the next few years. One of the main aims of the new site will be to deliver personalised content and promotions with plans to integrate it with social-media initiatives such as Facebook and Twitter. The retailer has chosen ATG to power its new platform.

Mail order company Party Pieces is in hot water over the use of the X Factor logo on its website without permission, reports the Sun.
