Debenhams‘ relaunched website contributed to an
85.9 percent jump in multichannel sales. Thanks to improved
navigation and better online merchandising, Debenhams’ ecommerce
site delivered sales of £50.6 million in the half-year to
27th February. In a statement Debenhams says it is sourcing
technology for the introduction of self-service kiosks and
service points during next year.
Among other new initiatives, a collect-from-store service was
introduced in all stores last month and accounted for 22 percent
of web orders in the first month.
The first half of the year also saw Debenhams extend
international delivery seven destinations, which is
“generating incremental business even though the service
has yet to be marketed”.
Rumours that Homebase and Argos
owner Home Retail Group is to be taken over by
Asda have gathered fresh momentum after the
supermarket’s boss Andy Bond yesterday announced his intentions
to step down from the day-to-day running of the business.
According to the London Evening Standard, the rumours made
Home Retail Group the sixth-most traded stock in London.
Which? Gardening has voted Two Wests & Elliot as
its favourite mail order/online gardening products company. Based
on 30 votes, Amazon came in second and
