Following its launch in the US in November 2010, Facebook has
launched Facebook Deals in the UK, France,
Germany, Italy and Spain. As part of its location-based feature
Facebook Places, Facebook Deals enables users to “check
in” to places on Facebook from their mobile phones and
claim special offers, rewards and discounts from brand and
retailers. Among the first deals available to European users is a
free coffee from Starbucks, free Benefit mascara
from Debenhams and offers from
Argos.
Fashion website Oli.co.uk has merged with sister
company Freemans to offer Oli @
Freemans. The merger went live on Friday.
Gross sales at Ocado increased 29 percent to
£551.1 million in the year ended 28th November 2010. Gross
profit increased 32 percent to £161.6 million. Operating
losses narrowed, down 87 percent from £14.4 million to
£1.8 million.
House of Fraser appointed former
Ryman multichannel boss Andy Harding as director
of ecommerce. Reporting to Robin Terrell, executive director of
multichannel and international, Harding replaces Peter Callaway
who retires from the role.
Mobile-phone accessories etailer Mobile Fun has
launched a b-to-b arm. The Corporate Advantage Account, aimed at
business buyers, enables customers to benefit from flexible
payment terms, bulk purchase discounts and a dedicated account
manager.

planning to bring manufacturing back to the UK. Currently only
around 1 percent of N Brown’s products are made in the UK.
