In an announcement released ahead of its annual general meeting
today, mutlititle catalogue group Flying Brands
said that since its last trading statement, sales in its garden
division, which includes the Gardening Direct
catalogue, are ahead of last year. Overall, however, the value of
orders taken in the year to 7th May in the garden division is
£10.3 million, compared with £10.5 million for the same
period in 2009. All other divisions, it said, were trading in
line with expectations.

John Fothergill and David Carey have been promoted to joint
managing directors of Mr Fothergill’s Seeds with
immediate effect following the retirement of their respective
fathers Jeff Fothergill and Brian Carey who founded the company
in 1978.

Marks & Spencer has unveiled its new site

website enables customers to search, browse and buy from Marks &
Spencer’s 24,000-strong product range via any web-enabled mobile
phone or device.

Fashionair, the fashion and entertainment
website set up by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller and
ex-Net-a-Porter exec Sojin Lee, is closing down
due to lack of funds, writes the Times. The business was launched, with great
fanfare, just eight months ago.
