Homewares and apparel retailer/cataloguer Laura
Ashley
announced that in the first 17 weeks of it
current financial year, total UK retail sales increased by 6.2
percent on a year-on-year basis. Online sales grew 74 percent
during the period, and combined online and mail order sales
increased by 42 percent.

Maternity wear and nursery products cataloguer/retailer
JoJo Maman Bebe is to open two new stores. The
first, in Winchester, will be open by the end of next week. The
second store, in Edinburgh, will open at the end of the
month.

Angus Thirlwell, founder and managing director of confectionery
cataloguer Hotel Chocolat, talks to the Telegraph about his £52 million
business, which after 20 years still feels to him like a
“startup”.

Luxury brands are warming up to the web, reports Reuters, with brands like
Yoox, Net-a-Porter and
Jaeger leading the way. Catalogue

has noticed a similar trend and will be covering
the issue of the popularity of selling luxury online in the June
