News roundup–Men’s Wearhouse buys Alexandra assets, more


Men’s Wearhouse, a US-based menswear retailer,
has bought UK-based corporate clothing and workwear supplier
Dimensions Clothing and the assets of
Alexandra for approximately £61 million.
The combined businesses will be organised into a holding company
of which Men’s Wearhouse will control 86 percent and the existing
shareholders of Dimensions will hold the remaining 14
percent.

Children’s furniture cataloguer Aspace has a new
head of marketing. Gavin Armstrong, who joins from homeware
cataloguer House of Bath in October, will be
responsible for all direct marketing and for coordinating
marketing and promotional activity across all channels of the
Aspace business.

Arriving late to the party, the Guardian reports that fashion chains
Zara and H&M will launch
transactional websites in September.

Growth in retail sales slowed in July, reports the Telegraph.
