Like-for-like sales (excluding VAT) at homewares and apparel
retailer Next were up 2.2 percent. Sales at its
mail order and online division did even better, rising 7.2
percent in the 13 weeks to 1st May 2010. The company says the
Directory arm is trading “comfortably ahead of its March
range”. However, it remains cautious about the winter
collection, which launches a week later this year.
Hoggs of Fife, a Scottish apparel retailer that
operates the Fife Country mail order business
and Hoggs.co.uk trade catalogue, is opening a
bricks-and-mortar store. The high-end countrywear company is
opening its first shop in the centre of Inverness, reports
The Press and Journal.
