Penelope Chilvers as managing director. The
business recently secured investment for growth from a consortium
of private investors.

Best Buy has announced it will close Best
Buy-branded stores in China and Turkey as part of a cost-cutting
measure that will generate annual savings of up to $70 million by
2013. In turn, it will open approximately 18 large-format Best
Buy stores in Canada, the UK and Mexico this year, where it sees
“significant opportunities”.

The chief executive and chief operating officer at China’s
largest internet company Alibaba have resigned
amid an investment into supplier fraud. According to the Guardian, approximately 100 Alibaba employees
helped criminals set up more than 2,300 fraudulent Gold-rated
storefronts on the marketplace, luring customers with promises of
goods at bargain prices.
