Shop Direct has postponed the closure of a Welsh
call centre for at least six months saving 180 jobs, reports
Wales Online. The company, which operates
Littlewoods and Very, has put
back the closure to December 2010 while it seeks “further
options with third parties for avoiding
redundancies”.

Habitat
is offering voluntary redundancy packages to
head office staff as part of plan to reduce its debt. The
programme, which Habitat predicts could save it €5 million
(£4.4 milion), is being funded through a loan from retail
restructuring specialist Hilco, reports Cabinet Maker.

The Books etc website was taken offline just two
days after relaunching. According to the Bookseller, the site is undergoing maintenance to
enable it to cope with increased traffic.
