Next acquires Lipsy

Next acquires Lipsy

Retailer/cataloguer Next has bought fashion brand Lipsy for
£17.4 million. Lipsy, which had a turnover of £20 million
in the year to June 2008, recently tasked eCommerce agency Snow
Valley with providing its next-generation eCommerce site. Built
on the Snow Valley platform, the site will be integrated with,
amongst other tools, Mercado’s search and navigation capability.
A business-to-business solution will also be developed as part of
the project to help Lipsy manage its 400 wholesale accounts.

In a statement, Next said that there were no plans for Lipsy to
cease supplying its customers via the catalogue or the website,
nor is there any intention to sell Lipsy products through Next
stores, although Lipsy products do feature in the Next Directory
