Next branches out into garden centres

After a successful trial, apparel and homewares retailer Next is
further extending its retail reach by launching a series of
stores in a new garden centre format.
Following the success of its trial stores in Ipswich, Next will
roll out the Home and Garden concept to more locations around the
UK. The stores offer clothing as well as gardening and DIY
products including paint, wallpaper and flooring.

In keeping with the garden centre theme, customers will be able
to purchase lawn mowers, watering cans and barbecues as well as
plants, flowers and trees.
Next in Shoreham, the first Home and Garden store, was opened in
August 2011. Next says it’s “actively looking for and in
negotiation on” a number of other sites around the UK to
expand the concept.
