Next Q1 sees increase in sales

Next has reported satisfactory first-quarter results with sales up by 21.3 per cent overall and has maintained its profit guidance.

Store sales were 285 per cent up over last year, but down by 8 per cent for the year prior to that. Its eCommerce sales fell by 11 per cent year on year reflecting the return to stores but online was up by 47 per cent against the same quarter three years ago. Label saw a 20 per cent increase in online sales.

Next says that it expects its total full price sales to be up in the range of 2 per cent – 8 per cent in its current year with profits in the range of £795m and £895m.
