Norbert Dentressangle and ASOS welcome PM to Barnsley

Norbert Dentressangle and ASOS welcomed the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to the latter’s distribution centre in Barnsley on October 24th. This was ahead of new economic growth figures which show that Britain is clearly out of recession. The Prime Minister commended ASOS for its contribution to the local ecomony and cited the company as an example of the country’s economic recovery.

Following a meeting with senior management from both ASOS and Norbert Dentressangle, Mr Cameron was taken on a tour of the site where he took the opportunity to speak with a number of the staff. Norbert Dentressangle took over the management of ASOS’ global distribution centre in August, in a partnership which will continue to drive ASOS global service proposition. This is to create an efficient customer focused experience to support the company’s mission to become the number one online destination for young fashion.

With a core workforce of 1,350, Norbert Denstressangle expects to create a further 800 jobs at the site by the end of the year, in addition to hundreds of temporary jobs to support the peak trading period.

ASOS recently announced that it would invest a further £25-30 million in the Barnsley distribution centre over the next 12 months.
