Henry vacuum cleaner manufacturer Numatic International has acquired the Millfield Road Industrial Estate in Chard, Somerset in order to build a £30m factory. The site is adjacent to the existing Numatic operation with the acquisition enabling the business to boost capacity to meet the increasing domestic and overseas demand it is experiencing.
The plan is to construct a complete production facility the Henry vacuum range which will see raw materials entering at one end and finished products leaving at the other. The company is now awaiting planning consent to demolish existing buildings previously occupied by Oscar Mayer on the site & start construction on the new premises.
Numatic is a British manufacturer which is one of the major producers of vacuum cleaners in the UK, best known for the Henry domestic cleaner. The company was founded in 1969 and now employs more than 1000 people producing 4500 units per day with 40 per cent exported.
