OKA Direct sales drop

Sales fell at Oka Direct for the 11 months to December 29th coming in at £26.3 million compared with £28.7 million for the previous 12 month period.  The business also showed a £2.8 million loss as opposed to its £1.4 million profit for the previous accounting period.

The upmarket interiors business operates from 15 UK stores and sells online. Its store sales were down by 6 per cent whereas online sales had risen. Co-founder Lady Astor said that next year’s performance could well be impacted if delays at ports, increased customs duties and changes to the employment rights of EU nationals working in the UK are impacted by Brexit.

Meanwhile, Oka’s marketing director Ben Blackwell has moved to take up the CMO role with online furnishings retailer Amara.
