Orvis to cull catalog, close stores

Orvis, the family owned retailer which specialises in outdoor apparel, is set to reduce its headcount by 8 per cent as it closes some of its stores and drops production of its catalogue.

Founded in 1856 and headquartered in Vermont, the business is also cutting back its product range to meet new challenges in the market which have also spurred the likes of Patagonia and REI to make similar cuts to their respective workforces.
