Palatine Private Equity has backed Character World, a licensed bedding specialist and supplier to major retailer, including Argos and ASDA. The £36m deal sees an exit for RJD partners who funded a management buy out with Mark and Danny Schweiger in 2008. Founded in 1998 Character World works with leading brands including Disney, Marvel, Lego and Thomas the Tank Engine and expects to achieve sales of £32m to the end of December 2014. The £16m investment from Palatine and funding from RBS will allow the business to capitalise on international growth as well as consolidate its UK business.
