Multichannel footwear retailer Pavers has reached the stage of now needing the approval of the Secretary of State for communities and local government to extend its York distribution centre by 119,000 sq.ft. following a lengthy planning application approval process.
The extended facility will provide capacity to service its 180-strong store chain and fast-growing online sales fulfilment. In addition, it will have eight new loading bays and turning space for HGVs, along with parking for vehicles and bicycles with landscaping. Pavers says this will support a further 130 roles in York and generate c.£51m gross added value.
Pavers said in a statement: “We’re grateful to receive support from councillors and the Planning Department to bring 130 new jobs to York, helping to secure our foreseeable future in the city where our family business has been based for over 50 years.”
