Fashion brands Speedo, Boxfresh, Clerk & Teller, Kickers, and One
True Saxon have begun trading directly to consumers via ecommerce
websites. The labels, owned by Pentland Brands, had previously
been sold only through resellers, but to expand the business and
gain better control over the way the brands are presented to end
users, Pentland decided to break into the business-to-consumer
market.
Speedo was the first site to go live, in time for the Beijing
Olympics this past summer. The sites are built on IBM’s WebSphere
Commerce system, supported by a content management system from
FirstSpirit. The integration was managed by Pentland’s
implementation partner, Cybercom. Metapack’s Delivery Manager
solution was chosen to help fulfil consumer orders.
