Online customers of electronics retailer Maplin will now
have an improved shopping experience as a result of deploying technology developed
by The Filter, a business set up by music and technology pioneer Peter Gabriel.
The Filter which was founded in 2004 has supplied advanced
discovery technology which will enable Maplin to recognise significant shopping
patterns and combine them with an individual’s taste to deliver predictive personalised
suggestions to customers. Esther Allen, head of eCommerce at Maplin Electronics
said “Personalised discovery will give Maplin a significant market advantage. Our
goal is to create the best shopping experience for each customer, one that will
enable them to find the product they love quickly and discover new products
they may not have discovered otherwise.” Other clients of The Filter include BT
Vision, Noka, SBS and Blinkbox.
