Peter Jones China in administration

Wakefield based gifts retailer Peter Jones is in administration. Howard Smith and Dave Costley-Wood of KPMG were appointed joint administrators today, 8th July. The long-established business operated which had employed 67 staff operated from ten stores in Yorkshire which had already suffered from poor trading prior to lockdown. All staff have been made redundant.

Howard Smith, KPMG commented: “Lockdown was a challenge too far for this retailer’s finances and in the unfortunate situation that it cannot continue to trade, we are managing a sale of its stock, in order to seek a return for creditors, and managing the wind down process.”
