Home Retail Group, the parent company of Argos and Homebase
today announced a positive start to the new financial year. Argos delivered
sales of £828 million in the first quarter, a rise of 1.2 percent. Sales of
white goods, TVs and tablet computers were strong, offsetting a decline in
video gaming and audio categories. Homebase also saw sales growth, with
like-for-like sales up 1.4 percent, despite tough trading of seasonal goods due
to the “volatile” weather conditions experienced in the 13 weeks to 1st June.
