Administrators from Interpath have been appointed to the three businesses which trade as Quiz Clothing. The retailer has 40 UK stores and a further 7 concessions in the Republic of Ireland, which collectively employ over 500 staff. Most are being kept on with the stores continuing to operate as a going concern. However, over a hundred head office and distribution centre staff are being made redundant, and the company’s website has closed for business.
The administrators of Orion Retail Ltd., Tarak International Ltd., and Zandra Systems Ltd., which collectively trade as Quiz Clothing, are Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs. In a statement, they said that the business had experienced challenging trading conditions with the Christmas trading period revenues having fallen below expectations in its stores and online.
Additionally, they said that strong economic headwinds, including changing consumer habits, cost pressures from business rates and the recent increases to employment costs, led the directors who explored all options to conclude that there were no solvent solutions available.
