Rackhams, a British online department store and marketplace, has added an AI-powered site search from search specialist Luigi’s Box ahead of the peak trading weeks.
Rackhams said the move follows a year of fast growth:
- October sales up 113 per cent on the same month last year
- more than 350,000 products on the site
- more than 1,000 sellers.
How the search works
The new search uses AI learning, site performance data and personalisation to put the most relevant results first. Rackhams gives the example of a search for “trainers”, which can take a shopper straight to the right category and filter out products in the wrong size or gender.
It can also show popular products, promote buying guides and show what other shoppers are searching for, which Rackhams says helps with gift ideas in busy periods.
Early results
The search went live in October. Since then, Rackhams says daily revenue is up 8 per cent compared with September, and orders per day are up 11 per cent. It expects the search to support further growth through November and December.
Mike Hart, head of marketing at Rackhams, said that with more than 350,000 products, the aim is for shoppers to find what they want quickly, and that a better customer experience also helps the marketplace’s sellers. Marianna Szarkova, senior partnerships and expansion manager at Luigi’s Box, said the early results show a clear daily uplift.
