Hawkshead has been sold as a going concern to its former rival,
the Regatta Group. Branded Logo Ltd, trading as Hawkshead fell
into administration earlier this summer suffering insufficient
financing and severe technical difficulties with its mail order
database. The administrators Asher Miller and Henry Lan of David
Rubin & Partners put a “significant investment” into
the cleaning of the customer database, and it is understood that
new, high-margin stock has arrived.
Miller commented, “The successful sale of the business to
the Regatta Group has safeguarded the jobs of over 180 employees
and ensured the survival of the Hawkshead brand. The joint
administrators have traded the business over the last six weeks,
implementing a restructuring plan to improve its operational
performance which also preserved the brand and allowed adequate
time for the marketing and negotiations with a number of
potential trade buyers”. He added that the acquiring
business’s “experience and financial stability” will
ensure that Hawkshead will remain a “premium outdoor brand
for years to come”.
