The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has formally notified Royal Mail that it plans to call on its members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action on Thursday 24, Friday 25, Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 1 December 2022.
This further action has effectively wrecked the seasonal mailing schedules of countless marketers as well as those who use Royal Mail for order deliveries to customers. It is also severely damaging consumer trust in the Royal Mail service with many reporting delays to critical correspondence.
Royal Mail says it has well-developed contingency plans, but that it cannot fully replace the daily efforts of its frontline workforce.
“We’ll be doing what we can to keep services running, but we’re sorry this planned strike action is likely to cause you some disruption. Royal Mail and CWU have agreed to jointly engage with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve the current disputes on Change and Pay. There is a commitment on both sides to reach a resolution.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding,” said Royal Mail in a statement.
