Royal Mail is mounting a two month trial in which its postal delivery workers will collect stamped, pre-paid, and online postage paid first and second class letters and small parcels from customer homes. It has chosen four locations for the trial. Households in the test areas of Rochdale, Bexleyheath, Purley and Urmston have had a leaflet delivered to them explaining how the scheme works. The results will determine whether the scheme is rolled out to other areas.
