Screwfix plans distribution centre expansion, opens new store

Screwfix has applied for planning permission to develop a
300,000 sq.ft. building alongside its existing 325,000 sq.ft. fully automated
distribution centre at Trentham Lakes, Stoke on Trent.

The Kingfisher plc owned business uses the current facility
to fulfil next day orders for its growing customer base. The new building would
be used primarily for storage and bring the total workforce employed at the
location to over 500. The business has also opened its 338th store creating
13 new jobs. The new location in Devizes will offer “click and collect” within
just five minutes of ordering, a service which is proving to be very popular
with tradespeople within easy reach of a Screwfix store.
