Selfridges to sell to Thai business

The owners of Selfridges have agreed terms to sell the store chain to the Central Group from Thailand. The Central Group, which also owns Swiss department store group Globus, has around 3700 stores across a number of diverse categories including other department stores. It is being suggested that Vittorio Radice may make a return to Selfridges which he ran in the late 1990s into the early 2000s. Radice is a non-executive board member of Central Group and headed Central Group owned La Rinascente in Italy from 2006.

Terms of the sale which is expected to complete within the next 4-8 weeks have not been divulged.
